“Merrily We Roll Along” – a Fun and Charismatic Musical!
Living well is the best revenge
Hi, I’m Erica Mer from Actors Entertainment, welcome to Thespian Thoughts, where we review for you the best of small theater. I had the pleasure of enjoying the fun and charismatic musical, “Merrily We Roll Along,” at the beautiful Crossley Terrace Theater in Hollywood, CA, “Merrily We Roll Along” is definitely impressionable. Mr. Richard Israel directs this fantastic and witty presentation based on the original play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The musical and lyrics were put together by the talented Stephen Sondheim. Besides the great ambiance, everyone within the production shined.
The performers in “Merrily We Roll Along” grasp their roles with humor, drama, and pure musical cleverness. The cast is more than actors, they are theater musicians with voices nothing shy of perfection. The dynamic cast of 14 each contributed special qualities to the show and truly made my evening enjoyable.
The presentation style of “Merrily We Roll Along” is the coolest part. The play starts out in the present tense and goes back in time. The clever writing, catchy songs, choreographed dancing, as well as the acting, held everything perfectly together. While the story’s premise is dark, there is still a happy ending underneath the twist of story telling.
I highly recommend this play and am positive every person will happily leave the theater. “Merrily We Roll Along” is an extremely fantastic play and should not be missed.
“Merrily We Roll Along plays Fridays through Sundays until October 24th. For more details, please visit www.ActorsCo-op.org.
