Ionescopade: A raucous vaudeville comedy inspired by writer Eugene Ionesco
Theatre of the absurd at its zany best, this colorful collection of songs, sketches, magic and madness is a dizzying treat.
<p< < p=””> </p< <>
Performed by an energetic and impressive cast of seven at the Odyssey in Los Angeles, it’s like an episode of America’s Got Talent except without any bad acts. <p< < p=””> </p< <>
Based on the works of eccentric Romanian playwright Eugene Ionesco and directed and choreographed with verve and vibrancy by Bill Castellino, this is the sort of show that stays with you long after it has ended.
<p< < p=””> </p< <>
You will remember the mindbending questions it poses, such as : ‘Who is the father of God?’ as well as the wacky musical revue numbers, especially the hilarious ‘Bobby Watson Family,’ the wonderful costumes designed by Mylette Nora and a standout performance by London West End stage star Tom Lowe. <p< < p=””> </p< <>
Ionescopade is so out of the ordinary that it takes a little getting used to at first but soon wins you over with its charm and lively vaudeville style appeal. This show is is a little weird, but a lot of fun.
