Welcome to Thespian Thoughts, your reliable guide to all the latest and greatest small theatre going on in right here in beautiful Los Angeles.
This week, I am taking you to Inside the Ford Theatre, in Hollywood, California, to the very interesting and creative show “bobrauschenbergAmercia”. Yes, the name is as crazy as the show! If you are looking for a good dose of visual stimulation, this is definitely the show to watch. The stage is like walking into an eclectic Art Gallery filled with fantastic interesting finds. A bizarre mix of cardboard boxes, bicycles hanging from the ceiling, a deer statue, an enormous bowling pin, tins, balls, garbage, and a life size chicken, to name but a few of the props that make up the set. The entire stage doesn’t serve merely as a backdrop, but it’s really apart of what the play was all about….

bobrauschenbergamerica takes you on a fantastical road trip through the American Landscape, written as Robert Rauschenberg, one of America’s greatest living artists, might conceive it. It is a glorious collage of images and sensations and a tribute to one artist’s singular vision.

The nice thing about this play is that you really come to your own conclusions about accepting what art is. Sometimes art and life, for that matter, have no real structure, rhyme or reason. Don’t even attempt to try and figure out this play. Art is made in the freedom of the imagination. Let it be. Expect the unexpected.

And now it’s that time for Fabulous Fashion:
The winner has to go to Breeze Braunschweig as the roller skating blonde bombshell who wore a bright, cute 50’s number, red hot pants, yellow leotard and knee high socks. Very nice visual stimulation to say the least…
And of course let’s not forget my Phantastic Phrase which I will leave you with this week,
“Chicken soup is good for you, unless you’re a chicken”
“Chicken soup is good for you, unless you’re a chicken”
