Hi everybody, I’m Brett Walkow of the Actors Reporter and welcome to the TradeVine. Autumn is officially here. The leaves are falling, the air is crisp, and Hollywood is more exciting than ever. Our goal at the TradeVine is to help you stay informed and to keep up with some of the entertainment news you may have missed in the Trades, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Backstage.

Back Stage, October 9th – Memorize Your Lines with the iPhone App LineLearner, by Matthew Murray. Memorizing a part is one of the things that opens a great rift between actors. For some it’s easy, for some it’s difficult. One solution won’t work for everyone, but if you’re the type who learns best by ear, you may want to take a look at and a listen to the iPhone app LineLearner. LineLearner works on the basic precept that by hearing your lines in a real-world situation you’ll be better able to quickly assimilate them. You record all your lines and your cues one by one and can then choose to play back either everything, so you can learn the shape of your part or just your cues, so you can practice delivering them yourself. LineLearner can be downloaded at iTunes fpr $3.99.

Hollywood Reporter, October 9th – Buzz Aldrin Lands ‘Big Bang Theory’ Cameo, by Lesley Goldberg. The second man to walk on the moon is stepping foot into CBS’ The Big Bang Theory. Aldrin, who in 1969 was aboard the first manned lunar landing flight on Apollo 11, will cameo in the Oct. 25 episode, “The Holographic Excitation,” when the gang celebrates Halloween. Aldrin becomes the show’s second astronaut to guest star, joining Mike Massimino, who plays himself and recurs as a member of Howard’s, Simon Helberg, shuttle crew. One small step for man, one giant step for comedy.

Daily Variety, October 8th – Penske Media Corp. acquires Variety, by the Variety Staff. Variety, the 107-year-old bible of showbiz, has been acquired by Penske Media Corp. Since 1905, Variety has been the world’s premier entertainment news source, and is today one of the most recognized global media brands. As part of this significant acquisition, Penske Media Corp. plans to rapidly build upon Variety’s foundation while extending the invaluable brand’s presence across the web, broadcast, mobile and international markets. Chairman and CEO Jay Penske said, “We are thrilled to welcome Variety and its exceptional team into the PMC organization.”

Well, that’s it for the TradeVine this week. I’m Brett Walkow. Thank you very much for watching. And remember, You heard it through the Tradevine!
