Hi everybody, I’m Yi Tian of the Actors Reporter and welcome to the TradeVine. It has been a week of green from St. Patrick’s Day to the beginning of spring, but how about adding a little green to your wallet? Well, the trades are an easy way to monitor Hollywood trends and lead you to that next big job. Keep up with the trades such as The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Backstage.

Back Stage, March 20th – In the section called The Craft, the article is entitled Avoiding a Common ‘Actor Trap,’ by Anthony Vincent Bova. Congratulations, you got the part! The character experiences the gamut of the human condition: love, hate, pride, etc. How do you, the actor, show shame, love, or murderous rage if you reject them in your own life? Here are 3 suggestions: 1. Be open. 2. Identify and eliminate obstacles to expression, being, and reacting. And, 3. Honor reality, but never try to replace it.  Good advice.

The Hollywood Reporter, March 21st – THR Poll: 9 out of 10 Call Social Media a New Form of Entertainment; Young People Want Texting in Movies, by the THR staff. . Based on a survey of 750 social network users ages 13 to 49, findings conclude “Social media is the connective tissue that enables consumers to multitask during their entertainment experiences by connecting with others and sharing their opinions.” Maybe we should call it TV tweeting?!?

Daily Variety, Tuesday, March 21th – Although The TradeVine doesn’t usually cover film reviews, we are making an exception for “Pray for Japan, produced and directed by Stu Levy. Film reviewer Justin Chang says that it’s hard not to be moved by the worlds of love, gratitude and resilience spoken by earthquake tsunami survivors and volunteers in “Pray for Japan.” Released March 16th in Los Angeles and New York, with proceeds benefiting relief org Jen, Levy seeks to excavate hope from the rubble, a noble impulse.

Well, that’s it for the TradeVine this week. I’m Yi Tian. Thank you very much for watching. And remember, You heard it through the Tradevine!

Hi everybody, I’m Katelyn Haynes and welcome to the TradeVine. Our goal at the TradeVine is to help you stay informed and to keep up with some of the entertainment news you may have missed in the Trades, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and Backstage.

Back Stage, March 27th – Objectives for Young Actors, by Rita Litton. ACTeen’s Rita Litton is often asked by her young acting students what they should be feeling; should they be “angry” or “sad”? Ms. Litton says that’s the wrong question. Acting is doing. An actor doesn’t come onstage to feel an emotion but to do something. So, what should they be doing? 1. Choose a strong objective 2. Focus on the action words, “Find me!” or “Stay with me,” let your imagination connect to these events. 3. Use the circumstances in the script to find the character’s recent or immediate wants. And, 4. Listen carefully to your partner and react spontaneously, honest feelings will occur.

The Hollywood Reporter, March 27th – Box Office Report: ‘Hunger Games’ Grosses Record $10.8 Mil on Monday, by Pamela McClintock. The Lionsgate movie, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, has earned $163.4 million in only four days.
