Hi everybody, I’m Roxy Shih of the Actors Reporter and welcome to the TradeVine. We’ve got some great articles for you. Back Stage, June 12th – Acting Advice from Wes Anderson, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ Cast, by Shelley Brown. Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” is a movie about children that appeals to the darker comedic sentiments of adults. The film’s two leads, Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman, are only 13 years old, but they act and speak like grownups trapped in the bodies of angsty adolescents. This is a credit not only to the natural maturity of the teenage actors, but also their ability to embody the quirky, precocious characters typical of Anderson’s films. The cast shares their own acting advice for young actors. Wes Anderson said his advice for young actors is to make sure to rehearse as much as possible. The more you know the script, the easier it will be on the director. Kara Hayward echoed Anderson’s sentiments. Despite having no previous film experience, she was immediately cast in the role of Suzy. “You’ve got to find that thing about you that sticks out and really play on that,” she says. Like Hayward, Jared Gilman also had no previous acting experience. He believes actors should never fear their nerves. And, Bob Balaban, who narrates the film, advises actors to trust their instincts. He was quick to add, however, that even after a long career, humility is important. Great advice guys.

The Hollywood Reporter, June 12th – Canada’s Empire Theaters Takes Imax Screens to Alberta, Ontario Multiplexes, by Etan Vlessing. Imax Corp. has sold another two giant movie screens in its own backyard, this time to Empire Theaters. The Nova Scotia-based Canadian cinema chain has acquired two more large format theaters from Imax, the first to open in Kingston, Ontario, in December 2012 and the second in Edmonton, Alberta, in May 2013. The latest deal brings the number of Imax screens scheduled to open in the Empire Theaters circuit to seven, and the number of giant screen theaters to open in Canada to 34.

Daily Variety, June 12th – Wynn Vegas venues in Ultra Music deal By Christopher Morris. Wynn Las Vegas’ venues have pacted with top dance label Ultra Music to issue a series of compilation CDs and new releases featuring major EDM talent. The Ultra-Wynn releases will be branded with the names of Wynn’s Sin City nightclub and day club venues, including Encore Beach Club, Surrender, Tryst and XS. The debut Encore Beach Club comp will be released digitally this month and feature music from resident Wynn DJs like Avicii, deadmau5 and Steve Aoki.
