The Real Skinny on Losing Water

Hi! I’m Reggie Watkins, your host for Nutrition for Actors by certified sports nutritionist, Christine Avanti. Today let’s talk about The Real Skinny on Losing Water, from page 107 of Christine’s book, “Skinny Chicks Don’t Eat Salads…Stop starving, Start Eating…And Losing!”

Your body must excrete a minimum of 2 cups of water per day as urine to carry away metabolic waste. We also lose water through breathing and sweating. When performing cardiovascular exercise, and adult can sweat off 50 ounces (about 6 cups) of fluid in 1 hour. For most people, the average daily water loss is approximately 2 ½ liters per day. We need about ½ cup of water for every 100 calories expended. For most people, that is about 2 to 3 liters of water (8 to 12 cups) per day.

Be sure to join me next issue of Nutrition for Actors. Until then, I’m Reggie Watkins for the Actors Reporter. Thanks for joining me here at Nutrition for Actors.

As Christine says, with good nutrition you will like the way you look and you’ll LOVE the way you feel!
