This is the best of the recent Marvel superhero movies, thanks to a Marvel-ous mix of fast moving fun, intrigue and spectacular action.
It also boasts a clever conspiracy storyline, creating a blockbuster which is about more than just blowing things up.
The film’s best scene is a breathtaking one featuring king of cool Samuel L Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. boss Nick Fury improvising ways to survive as a huge army sets out to kill him.
Talking of great actors, it’s wonderful to see a star of the stature of Robert Redford join the Marvel universe and he brings all his class to the role of the leader of a shady government plot.
That pair threaten to overshadow star-spangled hero Cap (Chris Evans) and his partner in crime fighting Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the film sadly resists acting on amorous sparks between those
well matched and attractive Avengers.
If these movies could find only a way to handle romance in a less clumsy fashion, they’d have all the elements working for perfect popcorn
film entertainment.
