Movie Review by Sandro Monetti – Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES “I went bananas about this one”
By Celebrity Insider SANDRO MONETTI
There’s no monkeying around in this engrossing epic as the movie-makers get straight into the apes versus humans intrigue at the start and don’t let up the tension for the next two terrific hours.
The special effects are impressive beyond description and so too is the story as distrust between species dominates the uneasy peace and ultimate battle for the planet.
Andy Serkis gives the best acting performance of the year so far as ape leader Caesar and I really enjoyed Gary Oldman’s work too as head of a band of human survivors of a virus released ten years earlier.
The film is intelligent and exciting and a fine addition to a franchise that has been with us for nearly 50 years but which has only rarely shown as many emotional moments as are displayed here.
It restores your faith in the ability of summer blockbusters to be full of awe and wonder and top notch acting alongside all the explosions and spectacle .
I went bananas about this movie and can’t wait to see it again.
