Who’s Who

Michael Homeier (Alex) is the third generation stage actor, following his father Skip Homeier, and his grandmother Blanche Evonne Smith, who founded the original Vagabond Players in Paris in 1928. Michael’s stage work includes the acclaimed “Welcome Home, Soldier” at Playhouse West (where Michael studied with Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum,) and the Vagabond Players’ production of “The Shadow Box,” Neil Simon’s “The Dinner Party,” and “The Devil on This Earth” (for which he was nominated for an ADA Award for Best Supporting Actor). A practicing attorney and public speaker (about teen cancer survivorship), Michael founded The Vagabond Players in August 1997, and serves as Managing Director. He dedicates his performances to his beautiful bride Diana and his terrific step-son Gabriel, whose love and support have carried him through his own rehearsals without committing any murders at all…

Thaine Allison, Jr. (Ernie) After several successful Roles at various theatres in Southern Cal, Thanine is thrilled to be in his second play with the Vagabonds. He was in last Fall’s production of “Marital Blisters” as the Judge. Credits include: Pa Joad in “Grapes of Wrath”; Lyle in Medoff’s “When You Comin Back Red Ryder”; Mamet’s “Deer Dogs”; Berubian’s “A Question of Faith” and Glenn Johnson’s “Roar of the Tiger.” He has been prop master for many shows at the Victory Theatre and is a stand up poet and has published several short stories and poems in national and international publications. Nina Varano (Sally) is happy to be making her debut with the Vagabonds. She studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, TVI Actors Studio, and the Acting Corps. Recently, she has appeared in the off-broadway show, “Sex, Relationships, and Sometimes Love” and as Honey in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”. She is a recent graduate of AFI and is a working cinematographer. Nina wishes to thank the Vagabonds for welcoming her into their family with warmth & love.

Catherine Michaels (Monica) Cat’s theatrical resume is quite extensive as an actor, producer and director. A few of her favorite stage credits include “Bedtime Stories” at Manhattan South Theatre, and locally “Don’t Dress for Dinner”, “That Other Woman”, “Pray Pray Pray”, “The Devil on This Earth”, “6”, “Night Hawks”, “The Shadow Box”, “Country Girl”, and “Reunion” for which she was nominated for an ADA award for Best Actress. She is a long term member of the Vagabond Players and serves as the Artistic Director of the Company.

Cindy Dellinger (Loretta) has worked extensively as a producer, stage manager and actor at Theatre Palisades and Morgan Wixson Theatre. This is her first outing with The Vagabond Players; she thanks them along with Lew Hauser for the joyous experience this has been. B&S, IAY

John McAndrew (Lloyd) has tackled many area of acting Improv, Stand-up, Sketch comedy, Chechov technique and made many short films. He has just completed his long awaited One man show and is happy to be back on stage with The Vagabonds.

LizAnne Keigley (Bella) is one of the newest members of The Vagabond Players and is very excited about being part of a group of talented, dedicated and slightly odd professionals. A veteran improve/sketch performer with over 25 years experience LizAnne trained with The Groundlings and The O.C. Crazies as well as creating, directing and starring in the “Hot Seat Players” acclaimed show “By the Seat of Our Pants”. You can see some of her recent work in the on-going webisode “Bollywood of Hollywood” in which she plays Rhada. She would like to dedicate her performance to her greatest support and love, her life partner Linda.

Kelli O’Brian (Karen) Kelli is very excited to be in another production with the Vagabond Players! As a graduate of Loyola Marymount University, Kelli has performed and studied in Los Angeles, Germany, and Russia. Past credits include Romaine Patterson in “The Laramie Project,” Antigonus in “The Winter’s Tale,” Mary in “One Night Stands” as well as Merideth in the film “Fourteen,” for which she received the London Filmstock Film Festival Award for Best Performance in 2004. Thanks and love to her family, friends, and The Vagabond Players. Peace and enjoy the show!

Michael James Thompson (David) acting career begins in Texas, where he studied at and was a member of the Film Actors Lab, working with film and television veterans Adam Roarke, Spencer Milligan, and Loren Bivens. A few favorite performances include “Home of the Brave” at Manhattan South Theatre and with Vagabond, “The Shadow Box,” “The Country Girl,” and “The Good Doctor.” TV credits include “Guilty of Innocent,” “The Practice” or in TV movies such as “Silicon Towers” with Brian Dennehy or “The Menendez Brothers Story.” He serves as one of the Directors of the Company.

Michael Coons (Leo) is an entertainment business veteran of nearly three decades, since the release of his first album in 1984 as a teenager. As a Musician, he has been on several world tours, and continues to record. A Television Arts graduate, Michael migrated from the San Francisco Bay area in 2003 and he continues his studies at TVI Actors Studio in Los Angeles. He has worked with Tom Hanks, appearing in “Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon,” David Fincher in “Zodiac,” and has several indy film credits. His work in music contains eight albums in his discography, and appearances with some of the rock world giants, including Bon Jovi and Metallica. Michael is thrilled to be a part of The Vagabond’s ensemble, beginning a new chapter of his life on the stage.

Adam Yogel (Man in Auditorium). Adam is excited to be a new member of the Vagabond Players. Adam has been acting since age five, having started out in Ft Lauderdale Children’s Theatre. His love of theatre led to television and commercial success in Miami, Fl. Adam has many theatre, commercial, and television credits and is currently the advertising spokesman for Pet Supermarket, a privately owned pet supply store with markets throughout the U.S.A. he has studied at The William Esper Studio in NYC, has received his BA from FSU and currently studies with Brad William Henke here in Los Angeles.

Lewis Hauser (Director). Lew has directed and acted in a number of plays in the L.A. area. Favorite roles include Allan Felix in Woody Allen’s “Play It Again Sam,” Ben Butley in Simon Gray’s “Butley,” Ali Hakim in “Oklahoma,” Aronow in “Glengarry Glen Ross,” and Maish Resnick in Rod Serling’s “Requiem For a Heavyweight.” Lew has directed at many playhouses such shows as the critically acclaimed production of Lorraine Hansberry’s “The Sign In Sidney Brustein’s Window,” Rupert Holmes’ “Accomplice.” Lew was Director-In-Residence for The Queen Mary Dinner Playhouse, where he directed “Luv” starring Huntz Hall & Gabe Dell, as well as “Accommodations.” His other directorial endeavors include: “A Chorus Line,” “Cole Porter’s Can-Can,” “Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” (Best Director Award), “Legends,” “Dames At Sea,” “Lend Me A Tenor” (Best Director & Best Play Awards), “Accomplice,” and “Postmortem”; at the Morgan-Wixon, “Broken Eggs,” “Social Security,” “Broadway Bound,” “You Can’t Take It With You,” “Duet For Bear And Dog,” “Eastern Standard,” “Jest A Second,” “The Mikado”; “Witness For The Prosecution,” “The By Friend,” “Charley’s Aunt,” “Our Town,” “Fiorello,” “Kiss Me Kate,” and “Fortinbras”; “Cherry Pie” (World Premiere) and “A Widow’s Kiss” (World Premiere); and for The Vagabond Players, “A Chance Meeting,” “Philip and Rowena,” “Pray, Pray, Pray,” (World Premiere), the critically acclaimed “The Devil On This Earth,” “Reunion,” “Mother’s Day In the Holding Tank,” “Absent Light,” “Elvis Orders a Mai Tai,” “6” (World Premiere), “Nighthawks,” “The Good Doctor” and many, many others.

Joan Murphy (House Manager). My childhood was spent in Hawaii, where in hish school and in my 20’s I was involved in theatre. Even though my profession has been private investigation for 28 years, my first love has always been theater, whether in Hawaii, Los Angeles, New York or London. From the age of ten, theatre going has been my passion and I am so thrilled for the opportunity to be part of the Vagabond Players.
